House Edge & Return to Player

House edge is a calculation used by gambling service providers to ensure the house always ends up making money. House edge is a mathematical advantage in games, usually given as a percentage that represents the average amount of all wagers a player will lose over the long term. Combined with randomness, house edge requires players to have an attitude of “hope to win, expect to lose.” The tables below show house edge percentages for a variety of casino games.

Return to Player (RTP) may be seen as house edge in reverse. If a slot machine has an 8% house edge, the average RTP will be 92%, meaning that over time the machine will keep about 8% of all money bet and will return 92% to players in wins. Percentages are calculated over the long term. Any result is possible in the short term.
